Being nominated as a GTOY candidate in February 2024 was humbling. After 26 years of teaching, I felt grateful to have the opportunity to share my experiences in the classroom with the public, and hopefully inspire others to teach robotics.
To be nominated, an educator, a parent, or a community member must complete a nomination form describing how and why the teacher should be selected as Guam Teacher of the Year. The months-long selection process includes an individual interview and classroom observation by a panel of past GTOY winners, as well as be profiled in local the media (newspapers, a local radio station and a local TV station). The winner is selected by the panel and becomes a representative of GDOE at the Teacher of the Year conference in Washington, DC.
